Renovation of an office building for Colonial on the Paseo de Recoletos, Madrid ]
The building, formerly the headquarters of Telefónica, is located on the Paseo de Recoletos opposite the National Library and next to Plaza de Colón, one of the most iconic locations in Madrid.
The comprehensive renovation project, designed to house offices, has been carried out in two phases. A first phase of partial demolition of the building, respecting its structure and part of the framework, and a later renovation that will revalue and integrate the whole building with 13,315 m2 of offices, 3 commercial premises on the ground floor, mezzanine and a basement of 2,482 m2 and 2,810 m2 of parking.
The most unique feature of the building is the facade which is divided into two sections. The first section has ceramic elements that facilitate the visual connection and integration of the complex with the adjacent building. The second section maintains its horizontal configuration but offers a more modern image with its double layered curtain wall.
