Development works on the RCD Espanyol Stadium and the Shopping Centre, Cornellà – El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona ]
The development works on the “La Plana del Galet” sector, covering 22 ha between the municipalities of El Prat de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat , were divided into two phases. The first phase consisted of the construction of diversions and improvements to the large rainwater and sewage collectors that crossed the area to facilitate the work on the Stadium and the adjoining Shopping Centre, and the second phase involved the provision of the necessary services to the plots created in the previous phase: electricity, water, gas and telephone.
This second phase also included the paving, lighting and landscaping of the public spaces, as well as the construction of a new link to the ring road around Barcelona, a new rainwater basin and the diversion of other services that crossed the area, such as an irrigation channel and a high-pressure gas pipeline.
As part of the overall project, our team was also responsible for the management of other works beyond the sector, such as the new link from the A2 motorway (elevated roundabout and viaduct), the electrical connection from L’Hospitalet de Llobregat to supply the sector, an office building for Metrovacesa and its surrounding development, and a series of assigned external urban development tasks such as the perimeter development of the Cornellà football field, improvements to the Abad Oliva school and the transfer of the municipal plant nursery company.
