Complete renovation work transforming an office building into a 4* hotel (with 147 rooms) in the centre of Barcelona.
The building, built in 1925 at number 30 on Via Laietana in the Catalan capital by the architect Adolf Florensa, is included in the City’s Artistic Heritage Catalogue, so the facades and the original state of the last three floors had to be respected, maintaining the original floor area.
The main entrances to the building were located on the ground floor, with the foyer, some lounges and the hotel restaurant, and with direct access from the street. In this foyer, formerly a carriage entrance, the historic character has been preserved with modern decoration. The space leads to the hotel’s central foyer, where all floors are connected. The kitchens, changing rooms and the rest of the facilities have been located below ground level. Also noteworthy is the construction of an indoor swimming pool.
